The Chris Lenzen Angels in the Outfield Memorial Tournament is a benefit softball tournament in support of the Chris Lenzen Scholarship Fund and The Special Olympics Missouri. This annual tournament is given in loving memory of Chris Lenzen, and Lauren and Kathleen Oliver to celebrate their lives that many cherished.
The funds raised throughout the tournament will go to the Chris Lenzen Scholarship Fund. Each year, an award is presented to a worthy male and female senior athlete who exemplifies sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity. That award will go towards academic expenses incurred in their upcoming college career. It is hoped that this award will not only honor deserving young men and women in their future but also carry on the legacy that for which he stood.
In addition to the Chris Lenzen Scholarship Fund, Chris became an advocate of the Special Olympics through his 4 years on the Marquette varsity basketball team. Each year, the basketball players would coach, mentor, and support the Special Olympics basketball team. Chris always would look forward to this time and the friends the he made over the years with their team. Chris would be honored that the funds raised during this tournament would benefit his friends at the Special Olympics Missouri.
